“All human beings are born free…”

Article 1 of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights

Is it worth the cost?Freedom.

One of the most powerful words in the English language.
An idea to inspire, to awaken, to invigorate, to provoke reaction, to fuel imagination.
A concept to generate enthusiasm, anger and motivation.

The subject of a many famous speeches and many more infamous wars.
The cause of political debate, revolution and cultural change.
One of the most valuable things a human could possess.

But as the popular idiom states; “freedom isn’t free”.

Somehow, we all must meet the costs of living.

In order to survive we need oxygen, water, food and shelter.

And on this increasingly cramped planet, the development of societies indoctrinating ethics and enforcing laws prevents us from simply taking these necessities unless we agree to pay a fee.

Money is not a reward. Money is a representation of an exchange of value. The time that I spent writing is balanced by the time that you spend reading; if we were to sell our time to each other then we would be even. My time is not more valuable than yours.

So please, pay the time forward.  Share your thoughts, ask questions, answer questions.  A good place to do this might be the mutual inquiry forum

“In spite of the cost of living, it’s still popular.” – Laurence J. Peter
